The sun sets recently over St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery on Morea Road in Mahanoy Township. The historic Mahanoy City Church was founded in 1891. Before that, Byzantine Catholics of the borough walked five miles to attend services at St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Church in Shenandoah, according to Mahanoy City’s published history. DONALD R.
