Hike at Tuscarora State Park is planned

The Tuscarora State Park will sponsor a 7.5-mile hike on July 12, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Participants will explore the mountain behind Locust Lake State Park and visit the Silver Creek Fire Tower and Reservoir.

Organizers note the length and hike are “difficult.” They say the pine stands and brush along the trail are perfect habitat for birds and other wildlife.

Those wanting to take the hike are asked to meet in the visitor parking lot at Locust Lake State Park (located before the contact station) at 10:15 a.m. The group will be traveling to another area to start the hike. Participants should bring a lunch, and their dog, if so desired, although all pets must be leashed.

Registration is required by calling Robin at 570-467-2506. No walk-ins will be allowed and the hike is limited to 10 people. All participants will be required to wear a mask.
