Pottsville will open up its Lions Club Amphitheater to the regional LGBTQ+ community to host the city’s first Pride Celebration and Festival on Saturday.

Pottsville resident Mikaela Gavaletz took the initiative to bring the community together in Schuylkill County to enjoy a day of music, food trucks, speakers and a cavalcade of drag performers from surrounding counties.

Maria Sanelli, a professor at Kutztown University, an author, education consultant and director of the Frederick Douglass Institute, will speak at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m. Dani Kilcullen, 14, will speak on behalf of the Trans Youth Community.

At 4 p.m., Matt Haslam, an activist representing Powered by Rainbows, The Pennsylvania Equality Project and The Schuylkill County LGBTQ Club will speak.
