Several injured in Walker crash

Six people were injured, with four flown by medical helicopter to a Lehigh Valley area hospital, in a head-on crash Wednesday that occurred in Walker Township, outside Tamaqua, and near Heisler’s Dairy Bar.

State police at Frackville said the crash involved a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander and a 2012 Kia Sorento and occurred at 5:21 p.m. at the intersection of Catawissa Road and Shady Lane, which is just south of the dairy bar.

Troopers said the Mitsubishi was driven southbound and its driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, crossed over into the northbound lane, and collided head-on with the Kia.

The Kia contained a man, woman and two children. The four were flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. The Mitsubishi contained a driver and passenger. They were taken by ambulance to LVH.

Ambulances from throughout Schuylkill and Carbon counties responded to the scene with four medical transport helicopters.

Troopers said the investigation into the crash is continuing. No names of those involved were released by troopers.
