The Lansford “Music in the Park” series has fallen victim to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lansford Alive Events Committee, which sponsors the series, announced that the band concerts held every summer in the John F. Kennedy Park, at the west end of the borough, across from the Panther Valley football stadium, has been canceled for the remainder of the summer. As a result there will be no concerts held for July or August. The concerts were held on Sundays.

The committee previously canceled the June schedule but had hoped to be able to continue with the remaining two months. The committee recently decided that with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation across the nation and in the best interests for the health and safety of the public, volunteers and bands, it was best to cancel the remaining schedule of bands.

The committee also said that the series will return in 2021 “bigger and better.” The committee uses funds raised at the concerts, through a refreshment stand, for updates and upkeep of the park.
