Redneck Festival to hold 13th annual event

Despite decisions by many of its contemporaries to cancel amid the coronavirus pandemic, one local festival plans to carry on.

Then again, the Redneck Festival in Weissport has been known to be anything but conventional since it began its successful run over a decade ago.

The 13th annual event will go on as planned this Labor Day weekend, according to event coordinator Duane Dellecker.

“Our festival is running,” Dellecker said. “We have no intentions of canceling it.”

Sponsored by the Weissport Recreation Committee, the event will run Sept. 4-6 in the borough park.

Dellecker said proceeds from the festival benefit the recreational needs of the community.

Over the past decade, the Franklin Street park was rebuilt with new playground equipment, rubber mulch, a new pavilion with picnic tables, a gazebo and permanent electric service throughout the main park in the center of town, he said.

The festival will be held rain or shine.

No pets are allowed, except for service animals.
