A look back: June 5, 1999

Last Sunday in Penn Forest Township, five young men were recognized for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, a goal many boys dream of, but few attain.

Michael Bacsick III, Mark Donnelly, Anthony Feller, Robbie Thomas and Matthew Thomas, all members of Boy Scout Troop 555, were honored in a ceremony held at the Penn Forest Fire Company No. 1.

Charles Chase from the Boy Scouts of America said only about 2 percent of the Boy Scout membership in the Minsi Trails Council, which encompasses the counties of Monroe, Northampton, Lehigh, Luzerne and parts of Carbon, make Eagle Scout each year.

Leading the ceremony was by Scoutmaster Vern Rumley.
