Tamaqua incidents reported

Tamaqua police reported the following incidents:

• Steven P. Campbell, 51, of the 200 block of W. Rowe Street, Tamaqua, is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police on patrol on May 21 about 11 a.m. saw Campbell walking through the parking lot of St. Luke’s facility at 102 Pine St. Police stopped to speak with Campbell, who became nervous and started shaking. He said he was upset due to a recent death in the family. When asked if he had anything on him he produced multiple glassine wax papers with suspected heroin.

• Craig Wayne Neveu, 33, of Sixth Avenue, Altoona, is facing a charge of indirect criminal contempt of court. On May 17 at 3:50 a.m. police were dispatched to the 300 block of North Elizabeth Street, for a domestic incident. Officers heard a woman screaming. Police found the woman and Neveu inside. After speaking with the woman and running a check on Neveu it was learned that an active protection from abuse order was in place involving him and the woman. He was then placed under arrest.

• Frank Joseph Ditchey, of the 300 block of Schuylkill Avenue, Tamaqua, was charged with disorderly conduct for an incident on April 29 at 12:15 p.m. Police responded to Schuylkill Avenue, where a woman reported Ditchey had shot at her dog with a slingshot. The woman showed a video of the dog jumping when the item hit a fence and showed Ditchey shooting the slingshot.

• John Scott Roberts, 58, of N. Centre Street, Pottsville, was charged with harassment for an incident on May 27 at 3 p.m. Roberts’ ex-wife reported on multiple occasions Roberts would drive down her street, North Railroad, and made an obscene gesture, blast music and other items including yelling at her. The charge was filed.

• Devin Moerder, 22, of the 700 block of E. Broad St., Tamaqua, was charged with a noise complaint. On May 23 at 6:54 p.m. police were dispatched to his residence for a complaint he was playing music loudly out of his car. Upon arrival officers could hear the music from a half block away. Officers told him to turn down the music, which he did. At 7:05 p.m. police were called back to the area again for loud music. This time Moerder was cited.

• Police reported charges against Set William Valentine, 40. On May 21 at 12:37 p.m. police were dispatched to the 500 block of N. Railroad Street for a disturbance. Valentine was there, despite a protection from abuse order in place prohibiting him from being on the property. He said he was homeless and had no place to go. He had a glass methamphetamine pipe and orange pills. He was cited for indirect criminal contempt for violating the PFA order.

He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison after failing to post $1,000 bail.
