The Rev. Thomas G. Shanfelt, M.A., pastor of St. Bartholomew and St. Michael Catholic churches in Tresckow, celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood at a Mass of Thanksgiving held at St. Bartholomew’s.

The priest, 54, was born in Jim Thorpe, a son of Rita Shanfelt and the late Thomas Shanfelt.

He graduated from St. Joseph’s School, Jim Thorpe, the Jim Thorpe Area High School, Penn State University and Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, Emmitsburg, Maryland, and was ordained on May 14, 1978, in the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown.

He is a former assistant pastor of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
