Driver almost hit Nesquehoning woman

A Brooklyn, New York, man was lodged in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility after an incident in the parking lot of the Amazon Distribution Center in Hazle Township. One of two victims is a Nesquehoning resident.

Henry Skowron, 53, is facing various charges after the incident at 12:09 a.m. May 1.

State police at the Hazleton barracks said they were called to the scene to investigate a report of an intoxicated man attempting to operate a tractor trailer.

Police said Skowron was inside the cab of the truck and they attempted to get him out of it. Police said Skowron resisted arrest. A scuffle began but police took him into custody.

Police said Skowron was operating the truck in the dock yard, he almost struck two Amazon employees with the vehicle, including a 24-year-old woman from Nesquehoning and a 50-year-old woman from Drums.
