Pa. continues to reconcile data, adds 310 deaths

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight that there are 1,070 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 52,915.

As a result of our continued work to reconcile data from various sources the state is reporting an increase of 310 new deaths today, bringing the statewide total to 3,416 deaths in Pennsylvania. These deaths have occurred over the past several weeks.

Carbon County increased by three cases for a total of 189, with 16 deaths. Of those, 12 deaths were in long-term care facilities.

In Lehigh County, there are 3,102 cases, an increase of 39 cases. Deaths increased by nine to 111. Of those deaths, 77 were in long-term care.

In Luzerne County, there are 2,332 cases, an increase of 26 from Tuesday. There are seven additional deaths for a total of 114. Of those deaths, 71 were in nursing homes.

Monroe County is reporting four new cases, for a total of 1,194. Sixty-three deaths are reported. Of those, 28 were in long-term care facilities.

Northampton County recorded 42 new cases, for a total of 2,355 cases. Deaths recorded rose by 30 to 152, with 100 of those in long-term care.

Schuylkill County reported three new cases, for a total of 422. Deaths remained at nine, with one in long-term care death reported.

There are 209,873 patients who have tested negative to date. Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

Nearly 1% are aged 0-4;

Nearly 1% are aged 5-12;

1% are aged 13-18;

Nearly 6% are aged 19-24;

37% are aged 25-49;

26% are aged 50-64; and

27% are aged 65 or older.

Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date. More data is available here.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 10,506 resident cases of COVID-19, and 1,489 cases among employees, for a total of 11,995 at 514 distinct facilities in 44 counties. Out of our total deaths, 2,355 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Approximately 3,437 of our total cases are in health care workers.
