Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon in Stroudsburg.

At 4:31 p.m. officers from Stroud Area Regional Police Department were dispatched to 331 Main St. for a report of a suspicious man.

Officers made contact with the man who brandished an edged weapon. A Stroud Area Regional Police Officer then fired his service weapon, striking the man.

The man was treated on scene and transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Pocono to be treated for his injuries.

This investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police Troop N Major Case Team.

State police said updated information will be released when it becomes available.
