DOH: Carbon records 10 deaths in long-term care

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight that there are 1,599 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 38,652. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19.

Today, the state is reporting 1,492 confirmed deaths in Pennsylvania.

Carbon County has recorded 12 deaths and 160 cases. Of those cases, 10 of the deaths occured in long-term care facilities.

Lehigh County deaths are reported at 49. Of those cases, 29 deaths were in long-term care facilities. There are 1,921 confirmed cases in Lehigh.

Monroe County has 1,037 cases, up from 1,015, but as data continues to be calculated the deaths have dropped from 48 to 44. Eighteen of those deaths were in long-term care facilities.

Northampton County has 1,716 cases, and two additional deaths for a total of 46. Of those, 23 deaths are in long-term care facilities.

Schuylkill County has 300 cases, with five deaths, a decrease of two as data is adjusted. No deaths have occured in long-term care facilities, according to the department of health.

There are 147,491 patients who have tested negative to date. Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

Nearly 1% are aged 0-4;

Nearly 1% are aged 5-12;

1% are aged 13-18;

Nearly 6% are aged 19-24;

38% are aged 25-49;

Nearly 28% are aged 50-64; and

25% are aged 65 or older.

Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 6,153 resident cases of COVID-19, and 726 cases among employees, for a total of 6,879 at 418 distinct facilities in 40 counties. Out of our total deaths, 903 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
