State police at Fern Ridge report incidents

State police at Fern Ridge reported the following incidents:

• Police investigated a burglary at a residence along Starry Lane in Chestnuthill Township. On March 16 at 11:09 a.m. troopers were dispatched to the residence for a break-in. Police met a woman from Family Services Association of NEPA, who had been appointed as plenary guardian of the property and its owner, a 90-year-old woman, was deemed to be totally incapacitated person.

The woman said she was checking the property when she saw a plastic chair had been placed under a window on the south side of the building. Further investigation revealed the window had been forced open and entry made. Multiple items were determined to be missing from the home.

The entry occurred sometime between March 13 and 16.

• Troopers reported investigating an incident on March 10 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. At 9:56 p.m. troopers were called to the area for a black Mercedes-Benz with Georgia registration driving slowly through the neighborhoods of Mount Pocohontas. At 10 p.m. troopers responded to a suspicious vehicle at a resident along Pawnee Trail. The Mercedes-Benz was found abandoned at that location. There were signs of entry at the residence, which is unoccupied at the time due to foreclosure.

• On March 21 at 9:43 a.m. troopers responded to Argot’s Hardware along Route 115, in Chestnuthill Township. A U-haul cargo van was reported stolen. It was determined that the suspects pried open the lock box and took the keys for the vehicle. The theft occurred sometime between 5 p.m. March 20 and when the call was received.

• A break-in occurred at a residence along Running Valley Road in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Taken in the entry was a stamp collection, coin collection and various women’s jewelry. The break-in was reported by the victim, a 89-year-old man from Easton, on March 26. No value was listed for the stolen items.

• A 52-year-old man from Gower Road, Albrightsville, Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, reported he saw an unidentified male stealing a red gas can containing about 2.5 gallons of gas from a property. The incident occurred on March 25, at 1:52 p.m. The witness said the suspect was driving a gray/silver vehicle.
