Clothing needs

The PVEN Clothing Closet has several needs. They include school uniforms: pants for both boys and girls, sizes 4-7; polo shirts for girls, sizes 6-6x.

For the men’s department the needs are gloves, sweatpants, PJ bottoms/lounge pants, flannel shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, long-john tops and bottoms, and Henley shirts.

Also needed are winter/snow gloves for boys and girls — the type that can be used to make snowballs.

And personal care items, such as shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant for both men and women, razors and shave cream are also needed.

Additionally, donations of linens such as bath towels and washcloths, standard-size white pillowcases are all appreciated.

One can bring such donations to the PVEN Center at 2334 Route 209 in Sciota to the lower rear entrance of the front building (center parking lot) or drop off clothing any time in the metal mesh basket on the big porch of the clothing building.

Volleyball ahead

Effort UMC has organized a church co-ed volleyball league every summer for ages 17 to 70 for years. Churches from all over the West End play. Games are Wednesday or Thursday nights at either 7 p.m. or 8:15 p.m. and are usually held at the church.

Effort UMC has three teams. If anyone would like to be on a team, or be the captain for a new team, email pdaz@ptd.net by Feb. 15.

Label the email: Volleyball.

A team must be affiliated with a local church.
