SH man fled police, was involved in two crashes

A Summit Hill man has been charged with fleeing police after he was involved in two separate crashes early Thursday morning in Carbon County.

Lehighton State Police said the incident occurred at 6:25 a.m. when Palmerton police Chief Randy Smith came across a one-vehicle crash on Spring Street at Mill Street in Palmerton.

The driver, Christopher Field, was wanted a state parole violation.

Smith attempted to take Field into custody, but Field fled from the scene, and a pursuit was initiated on Mauch Chunk Road.

Subsequently, Field crashed his vehicle into another vehicle on routes 248 and 209 in Franklin Township.

As troopers and other local officers were attempting to apprehend Field after the crash, he attempted to flee again, but was taken into custody on Bank Street, Franklin Township.

Assisting on scene were Palmerton Police Department, Lehighton Police Department, Franklin Police Department, Lehighton Fire and EMS.
