Work on one of West Penn Township’s bridges has been completed.

Board of supervisors Chairman Tony Prudenti said at Monday morning’s bimonthly meeting that repairs to Water Wheel bridge are done.

Prudenti praised fellow Supervisor Ted Bogosh, whom he said was able to get the bridge price down from $44,000 with a grant to $15,500.

“Supervisor Bogosh saved us a lot of money,” Prudenti said. “I’d like to thank Mr. Bogosh.”

Earlier this month, supervisors agreed to have Mark Boyle repair the bridge on Water Wheel Road in the amount of $15,500 after Boyle’s quote was previously approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

If PennDOT had denied Boyle’s quote, the board would have continued with a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Multimodal Grant in the amount of $102,196, for which the township would have had to come up with the balance of $44,028 to complete the project cost of $146,224.

The bridge had a deteriorating beam.
