Mauch Chunk Opera House to be rockin’ Friday and Saturday

The Mauch Chunk Opera House will be busy with a weekend full of events, kicking off with one of the most interactive ’80s tribute bands out there on Friday before turning to the dark side with a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” themed event on Saturday.

Rubix Kube

For over a decade, Rubix Kube has billed itself as the most original ’80s tribute band of all time.

Its one-of-a-kind, ever-evolving and interactive “The Eighties Strike Back Show” captivates public and private audiences of all ages.

From their NYC headquarters, to our U.S. troops overseas, The Kube rocks for fans in the most prestigious venues across the globe.

Set to perform their typical rollicking and theatrical show with a seasonal theme at Jim Thorpe’s Mauch Chunk Opera House at 8 p.m. Friday,

Rubix Kube is led by a male and female dynamic duo of karma chameleons, able to transform in the-blink-of-an-eye into any of your favorite ’80s icons. It’s like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cher, Prince, Devo, Bon Jovi, Boy George, Paula Abdul, Guns N’ Roses and more teleport right before your eyes on the same stage, in one concert.

The band dazzles with some of the most talented and versatile musicians in the entertainment business, including Steve Brown and P.J. Farley of the band Trixter.

So well-known for their world-class musicianship, Rubix Kube is often joined on stage by ’80s legends themselves. Rick Springfield, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Night Ranger and Dennis DeYoung of Styx are just some of the Kube’s collaborators.

To boot, The Kube is the only ’80s band that can honestly claim to have played with Bret Michaels of Poison, Mike Score of A Flock of Seagulls, Colin Hay of Men at Work, MC Hammer, Tone Loc, Taylor Dayne and Bonnie Tyler.

Tickets are available at www.mcohjt.com, by visiting SoundCheck Records in downtown Jim Thorpe, or by calling 570-325-4009.

10th annual boolesque show

The “antici...pation” is almost over for the 10th annual Boolesque show.

The adults only event will be held Saturday at the opera house with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show beginning at 8.

To celebrate a decade of decadence, the High Priestess Metaphysical Boutique and Madame Corsetiere paired Boolesque with the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

A screening of the 1975 cult classic film, complete with your favorite burlesque performers will be delivering live performances during the movie.

She’s asked her artists to use the music from the score, and their imaginations, so there’s no telling what naughty nonsense will ensue.

For those who have not yet had a live “Rocky Horror” experience, please be advised that it contains extremely provocative and vulgar material, and is not suitable for children or those who are easily offended.

This is a semi-restricted prop show in order to preserve the integrity of the historic venue.

For a complete list of appropriate props, visit www.paburlesque.com. Costumes are welcome, but not required.

In addition to the show, a special Rocky Horror themed raffle will be held. Proceeds from the raffle benefit the Carbon County Friends of Animals.

Tickets for the show are available before the show at www.paburlesque.com or at SoundCheck Records, 23 Broadway; or at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the show.
