Richard Getz, 51, of Kunkletown, was lodged in the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, after he attempted to break into a residence at 1700 Lower Smith Gap Road, Lower Towamensing Township, at 2:16 p.m. Oct. 9.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said they charged Getz with multiple counts of assault, attempted burglary, criminal trespass and resisting arrest. He was jailed following arraignment in Magisterial District Court 56-3-02.

Police said they were dispatched to the residence for a report of a suspicious vehicle and a man at the residence.

The victim told police the suspicious person was pulling on several doorknobs.

Police said they later identified the man as Getz, who was taken into custody after a brief struggle with troopers.
