Slatington man with active warrants charged with escape, drug possession

A Slatington man, who already had active warrants for his arrest, has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Michael Concilio of the Slatington Borough Police Department:

At 3:33 p.m. Aug. 20, Concilio observed a man, later identified as Ted Long, 52, going west on the 300 block of Main Street with a bicycle.

Concilio was aware there were several active arrest warrants for Long, so he got out of the car and told Long to stop.

Long took off, dumping his bicycle and running south across Main Street, and jumped into Trout Creek.

He walked along the trail and headed toward East Church Street. Walnutport police were notified.

Concilio followed him. Long jump over a fence and around the George Dillard Manor Assisted Living Facility, where Walnutport Chief Pete Wayda took him into custody.

A glass pipe with residue was in Long’s left front pocket.

Concilio confirmed one of Long’s active warrants was out of Lehigh County Prison for escape, and another from Lehigh County Adult Probation.

Long was taken to Lehigh County Central Booking Center for processing.

Long faces charges of escape and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is currently incarcerated in the Lehigh County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Tom Creighton of Slatington.
