Split Rock donates to Lake Harmony Fire Company

Recognizing emergency response resources, Split Rock presented Lake Harmony Fire Company with $890 from the resort’s July 5 fireworks funds. A $10 per carload charge collected at the lakeside holiday festivities resulted in 25% going to the nonprofit.

As community support helps handle fundraising hurdles faced by the fire company, including limited volunteers to aid in area efforts, Split Rock Resort stepped up, approaching Lake Harmony Chief Ralph Lennon with the idea to aid this year, expanding beyond the usual boot cash collection.

“They (Split Rock Resort) don’t have to do it but they do,” he said, sharing how the longtime contributor continues to assist in efforts.

Reporting the need for rescue truck replacement costing upward of $800,000, plus another $100,000 in equipment; Lennon shared another annual initiative, a Sept. 1 all-you-can-eat breakfast benefit hosted by Split Rock.

“Lake Harmony Fire Company is a valuable part of our local community,” Split Rock Resort Director of Operations Sue Nordt said.

“Split Rock cares and continues to consider ways we can use the resort’s assets like events, attractions and restaurants to help,” she said.
