Carbon teen admits to burglary count

A Carbon County teen pleaded guilty to a felony burglary charge on Thursday in the county court.

Angel Otero, 19, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to his part in a burglary and theft incident on Jan. 26 in Palmerton. Otero and two other males entered the property of  R&D Powersports at 439 State Road, Palmerton, and removed four motorcycles.

Police responded to a theft report from a neighbor of the victim who saw three males removing cycles from the property. When police arrived, the three were gone. However, an alert was posted concerning the missing bikes, and Otero was stopped while operating one by Whitehall police. They took him into custody until Palmerton police arrived and took custody of him.

It was noted all three bikes were recovered.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the plea but deferred sentencing, ordering the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
