During the Memorial Day Stay-at-Home Festival held in Summit Hill, Fenton Black received the Carnegie Medal on behalf of the Summit Hill Historical Society from his uncle, Jack Black.

The medal was originally awarded in 1906 for an act of bravery by Fenton S. Gregory, an 11-year-old boy who saved the life of a man who was drowning in the Susquehanna River. The boy was using water wings to navigate the water and managed to slip them onto the drowning man and pull him close enough where others could pull him ashore.

After Gregory completed his education at the Perkiomen School, he played semi-pro baseball in Summit Hill, where he met Margaret Black and they eventually married.
