STUDENT PROFILE - Ryan Gibki Notre Dame HS - Coordinated by Julia Swan

Grade: 12

Family members: I am the child of Ed and Laura Gibki and I have an older sister, Nicole, who is a junior at Muhlenberg College

Favorite subject: My favorite subjects are biology and sports management because I enjoy sports and I am interested in how the body works. Both subjects can be taken as an undergraduate for physical therapy which is what I plan to study in college. Personally, I have an active lifestyle which has led me to grow familiar to how the body functions.

Activities: I am a member of the baseball, basketball and soccer team at Notre Dame. Also, I am the treasurer of Key Club and a member of the National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society. I participated in Notre Dame’s annul 24-hour Mini Thon three out of my four years and plan to participate this year.

Next steps: After high school, I plan on attending college in pursuit of a doctorate in physical therapy. I am also going to continue my baseball career at the collegiate level.

Career goals: My goal is to work with a major league team as a physical therapist who is able to help athletes return to the playing field after suffering an injury.

Heroes: My heroes are my Aunt Donna and my dad. My aunt recently died from breast cancer and I want to someday be as strong of a person as she was. My dad is my biggest mentor and supporter. He supports me at every single game and I wish to be like him.

Hobbies: Other than school activities, I also play travel baseball and ski. I play baseball for the Lehigh Valley Rising Starts. I ski at Blue Mountain noncompetitively.

Current job(s): I am a lifeguard at Penns Farms during the summer.

Volunteer/community work: I volunteer for Miracle League, Special Olympics, and monthly activities that Key Club performs. I also help work Notre Dame sports camps throughout the year and participate in Mini Thon.

Likes: I like sports, hiking, skiing, dogs, drawing, sleeping and eating.

Dislikes: I do not like homework, waking up early, and spiders.

Greatest accomplishment (so far): I have a variety of accomplishments that I am proud of but I am most proud of my athletic accomplishments. I am a district 11 AA champion in basketball two times and soccer. Also, I am a Colonial League champion in baseball. I value team accomplishments higher than any individual awards and I plan to win more championships my senior year.

Advice for peers: I recommend to try to get as involved in as much as possible. It is better to try an activity and not like it than to look back and regret not doing it.

Student profile subjects are selected by faculty and administration at the individual schools.
