May 14, 1993 — Northern Lehigh’s Bob Chandler sets two new meet records in earning gold at the Centennial League track and field championships. Chandler claims the 1600 in 4:21.4 and wins the 3200 in 9:47.6. Lehighton’s Carl Wolter also sets a meet record in the javelin (200-7) for one of his two wins. Wolter also captures the discus (140-7). Palmerton’s Ernie Rehrig cops gold in both the 100 (10.9) and 200 (22.5), while Northwestern’s Kathy Yost is a double-winner in the triple jump (35-3 3/4) and high jump (5-0). Other area individual winners include Northern Lehigh’s R.C. Price (shot put), Tasha DeSousa (400), Tracey Lucien (long jump) and Lisa Dorshimer (3200); Lehighton’s Lamont Hibbler (800), Joy Haydt (javelin) and Cheryl Honchen (shot put); Northwestern’s Megan Shuaghnessy; and Pleasant Valley’s Melanie Judkins (300H).
