Palmerton rose garden to be rededicated

The rose garden in Palmerton Borough Park will be rededicated this weekend after undergoing a monthslong restoration project.

The late Dr. Jane Goplerud, who worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist at the former Palmerton Hospital, originally oversaw the garden’s construction. Goplerud retired in 1986, after serving on the hospital staff for 38 years.

Goplerud dedicated the garden to her sister, Ann Kennedy, who died of leukemia in 1999.

The garden’s restoration was a joint effort between the borough and the Concourse Club of Palmerton. The rededication will take place on Saturday in the borough park on Delaware Avenue. It will start at 11 a.m.
