A look back: April 27, 1984

James Remaley of Lehighton, who in 1968 was named the first urban director of the Carbon County Conservation District, was honored by the district last night for the dedication he has shown over the years in conservation.

Highlighting the dinner program held at Trainer’s Inn, Lehighton R. 4, was the presentation of a specially engraved gold watch from the district to Remaley by Howard Frey of Lehighton, district chairman.

Among those who spoke and heaped words of praise on Remaley were Albert U. Koch of Lehighton, a member of the county’s board of commissioners, and Robert McCombs of Mahoning Township, a member of the conservation district.
