The Northwestern baseball and softball teams both had huge offensive games on Monday.

BASEBALL

Northwestern-Moravian Academy

Derek Holmes’ eight RBIs highlighted Northwestern’s 25-14 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy.

Holmes also finished with two singles and a triple for the Tigers (4-1), while Brandon Mengel had a four-hit day. Mengel added four singles, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Carter Welch (single, triple, four runs scored, RBI), Rafe Perich (single, triple, three runs scored, three RBIs), Colten Hagadus (two singles, three runs scored, three RBIs) and Vince Castrine (single, double, a run scored) all contributed in the offensive explosion.

Jim Thorpe earned its first win of the season with a 15-5 five-inning non-league victory over Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg.

Zach Searfoss paced the Olympians (1-2) with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI, while Jared Joyce chipped in with two singles and a run scored. Laine Dart added a single, a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Palmerton-Saucon Valley

Ryan King and Zach Silfies combined to toss a three-hitter in Palmerton’s 6-1 Colonial League victory over Saucon Valley.

King earned the win on the bump for the Blue Bombers (2-2), finishing with five strikeouts. Silfies shut down the Panthers in the final inning of relief.

Silfies led the Bombers at the plate, recording three singles, a run scored and an RBI.

Tanner Burnett (two singles, RBI) and Eric Nothstein (two singles, two runs scored) contributed in the win.

Northern Lehigh-Bangor

Bangor earned an 8-2 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

Ethan Saxe paced the Slaters (2-2) with three singles, a run scored and an RBI.

Chase Misera had two singles and an RBI for the Bulldogs (1-3). Brandon Hess added a single, a run scored and an RBI.

Pleasant Valley-PM West

A seven-run fifth inning sparked Pleasant Valley to a 15-5 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pocono Mountain West.

Brandon Ratti led the Bears (4-0) with two singles, a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs. Chris Frable also had a big game with three singles, three runs scored and an RBI, while Ryan Purgar recorded three singles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Palmerton-Saucon Valley

Paige Shupp’s 4-for-4 performance at the plate highlighted Palmerton’s 19-3 Colonial League romp over Saucon Valley.

Shupp finished with two singles, two doubles and four RBIs, while also earning the pitching victory as the Blue Bombers (5-0) remained undefeated.

Kailah Altemose (2-for-2, double, home run, four RBIs) and Megan Green (single, home run, two RBIs) both contributed in the win.

Morgan Farthing’s big day at the dish sparked Northwestern’s 20-7 Colonial League victory over Palisades.

Farthing posted a 4-for-5 performance, recording two doubles, a home run, a single, a run scored and eight RBIs for the Tigers (2-1). Anna Akelaitis chipped in with three hits, five runs scored and four RBIs; Emily Akelaitis added two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs; Brynn Balliet had three singles and four runs scored; Kylie Zentz had two hits and two runs scored; and Molly Mitman had a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Bangor belted five home runs on its way to a 17-1 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

Maddie Peters, Shyanna Williams and Brianna Schuck accounted for the Bulldogs’ (0-4) three hits.

Peters scored Nolehi’s lone run on Williams’ RBI single.

Pleasant Valley needed just five innings to post a 16-4 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pocono Mountain West.

Grace Vento led the Bears (2-1), who pulled away with an 11-run fourth inning, recording two doubles, two singles, four runs score and three RBIs. Lauren Steckel added three singles and four runs scored, while Madison Rosenberg followed with three singles, a run scored and two RBIs.

Lehighton-Fleetwood

Fleetwood rallied for a 10-9 non-league win over Lehighton in nine innings.

The Tigers (1-4) tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out error, and won it on a two-out, two-run error in extra innings. Calamita, Carlen Lazar, Frederick and Megan Braitley all had two hits for Fleetwood.

Becky Serfass, Heidi Greene, Alexis Scott, Kendra Peterman, Kate Nanovic and Sam Gruber all had two hits for the Indians. (2-1).
