McAdoo Police report on recent incidents

McAdoo Police released information on several recent cases.

• Keyshawn Navar, 19, of Kelayres, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in the borough on Jan. 26. Navar was stopped at 10:59 p.m. due to nonfunctioning lights. Officers detected the odor of marijuana and recovered a roach with burned marijuana residue from under the driver’s seat.

Blood tests revealed he had THC in his system.

He was also charged with driving without a valid license.

• Clauro Tatis Camilo, 19, of Hazleton, was stopped at 1:57 a.m. on Jan. 27 for a brake light issue after police observed his vehicle make a wide turn from North Kennedy Drive onto West Blaine Street with the vehicle halfway into the opposing lane as it turned. When police activated their lights and sirens, Camilo began to back up as if trying to park, and nearly hit the cruiser. The odor of marijuana wafted from the vehicle, which led officers to conduct field sobriety tests. Camilo was taken to the hospital for blood work, which came back positive for THC.

He was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a valid license.

• Kiona Newell, 20, of Weatherly, was stopped at 10:43 p.m. on Jan. 25 due to a non-working headlight. Officers detected the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. They noted that she had red, bloodshot eyes and when asked to stick out her tongue, it had a slight greenish cast.

Blood tests indicated she had THC in her system.

She was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving without headlights and lack of insurance.

• Tyler Palermo, 24, of Nuremberg, was charged with criminal trespass after he repeatedly visited Fegley’s Mini Mart on South Kennedy Drive, despite being banned from the property. He was found on the property on Feb. 5, Feb. 6 and Feb. 7.
