United Way’s nonprofit grant applications are now available

The United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley has announced the opening of its annual application for grants for nonprofit organizations for the 2019-20 program year.

The invitation for applications has been developed by volunteers and staff dedicated to ensuring healthy living for all residents of Carbon County.

Organizations can apply for amounts between $500 and $10,000. The average grant is estimated at $2,000.

This opportunity is the result of focused assessment and communication of needs across the region. Through community meetings, tours and visits with community partners, and countless conversations on health and human service needs across the county over the past two years, the United Way hopes to increase support for people with disabilities; access to healthy food and shelter; access to physical and mental health services, including integrated behavioral health in a school setting; and kindergarten readiness for children and increase access to school-age opportunities.

Organizations that are eligible for the grant must provide health and human services programming to county residents through either education, income or health; must hold a 501(c)3 status for at least three years; and must be able to submit annual audit information or if not available, financial statements, organizational bylaws, and board of directors roster upon request, if funded.

The deadline to submit applications is 5 p.m. March 4. Grant applications can be submitted by mail to the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley office at 1110 American Parkway NE, Suite F-120, Allentown, PA 18109; or by email as a Word document, PDF file or scanned document to Mary Widmer at maryw@unitedwayglv.org.
