A seat on the Northern Lehigh School board of directors is up for grabs.

The board is seeking applicants to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Director Kristie Wilk on Monday.

Residents of the district who would like to apply for the seat must submit their applications on or before noon Feb. 7.

No telephone applications will be accepted. Letters can be mailed or delivered in person.

Personal data, or a resume which will assist the directors in the interviews, should be included in the application.

The person selected to fill the vacancy will serve until December. To serve beyond then, they must run in the municipal election.

Wilk resigned from the board for personal reasons “as far as work goes.”

She had served as board secretary. Upon the acceptance of her resignation, the board appointed Director Gale Husack as board secretary.

Wilk, of Washington Township, was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board at a special meeting in April 2017.

That seat became open after former Director Edward Hartman resigned in March 2017, though no reason was given for his departure.

Board President Gary Fedorcha said at that time Hartman’s resignation was believed to be due to personal reasons.

Hartman joined the board in December 2007, and most recently served as its vice president, after having spent much of his tenure as board president.

Wilk’s resignation represents the latest turnover on the board.

In November, the board on a 7-0 vote appointed Director Michele Martineau to fill a vacant seat.

Martineau, of Slatington, was appointed to fill a vacant seat until December 2019. To serve beyond then, she will need to run in the municipal election.

At that point, the seat will be only a two-year seat to complete the end of the term, which expires in 2021.

In October, the board approved the resignation of former Director David Roberts, who was moving out of the district.

Roberts was appointed to the school board in April. He took over for former Director Debra Bower, who resigned from the board in March due to health reasons.

Bower was appointed to the board in March 2016.

She replaced former Director Natalie Green, who resigned from her seat in February 2016.

Green was originally appointed to the board in June 2010.
