Flood warning issued for the area

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a flood warning for the area until 4:15 p.m.

At 12:14 p.m. Doppler radar indicated the moderate to heavy rain was moving out of the region. Although the widespread rain is coming to an end, more than 3 inches fell across portions of the warned area. It will take time for this water to drain. As a result, the flood warning has been extended through 4:15 this afternoon.

The forecast:

This Afternoon: Rain before 4 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 62. Southeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 7 p.m., then showers likely. Low around 40. South wind 8 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. West wind 14 to 17 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind 7 to 11 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. West wind around 6 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
