Local Roundup: Results from Dec. 14

The Panther Valley and Pleasant Valley girls’ basketball teams kept their perfect records intact with victories Friday night. The Palmerton girls, along with the Tamaqua and Weatherly boys also picked up wins.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

LLA-Panther Vy.

Erika Dubosky exploded for 31 points to lead undefeated Panther Valley to a 61-45 non-league victory over Lincoln Leadership Academy.

Dubosky received plenty of support from Megan Pascoe, who added 20 for the Panthers (5-0).

Ramsey Rodriguez poured in 34 points to lead LLA (0-4).

Pleasant Valley pounced on East Stroudsburg North early and cruised to a 55-26 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory.

Cameron Caffrey paced the Bears (3-0) with a game-high 20 points. A total of 11 players scored for Pleasant Valley, which led 39-10 at halftime.

Brianna Moore led the Bombers (2-1, 2-0) with 17 points. Casi Papay followed with nine points while Baylee Guedes and Emily Recker added eight apiece.

Alix Rushatz had 10 points for Catty (1-4, 0-3).

Tamaqua downed Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg, 66-58, in a non-league game.

Three players hit double figures for the Blue Raiders (3-1) led by Lucas Gregoire’s 19 points. Derian Stiancha added 16 points and Brayden Knoblauch chipped in 13.

For the Spartans (2-1), Dylan Paris led the way with 18.

Weatherly defeated Northumberland Christian School, 77-67, in a non league game.

The Wreckers opened up a 13-point lead early in the 4th (66-53), then held off a late surge by the Warriors by going 7-for-8 from the free throw line down the stretch.

Scott Zoscin had a big game for Weatherly (1-2) with 31 points. Antonio Colecio added 20.

That firepower was needed to offset a 39-point performance by Aaron Knauss of Northumberland Christian School (1-4).

A slow start hurt Northwestern as Southern Lehigh posted a 51-42 Colonial League victory.

The Tigers trailed 18-6 after one quarter and were never able to overcome that early deficit.

Chris Andrews had 17 points and Trey Trevis added 13 to lead the Spartans (1-3, 1-2).

For the Tigers (2-1, 2-1), Sam Yadush and Devin Thomas had 10 points apiece and Deven Bollinger added nine.

Salisbury pulled away down the stretch to claim a 46-38 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

Sean Snyder scored 17 points for the Falcons, who outscored the Bulldogs 16-10 in the fourth quarter.

Nick Seier’s 10 points led the Bulldogs, while Zach Moyer tallied nine.

Moravian Academy swept Tamaqua in non-league action.

The Lions posted a 127-36 triumph in the boys’ meet, and an 89-77 victory on the girls’ side.

Brianna Dumond won the 100 butterfly (1:07.15) and 100 backstroke (1:08.66) for the Lady Raiders, while Kayla Sherry placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.52).
