A Palmerton woman found sleeping inside a clothing shed at a church has multiple warrants for her arrest.

Holly Getz, 38, faces charges of flight to avoid apprehension, false ID to law enforcement, defiant trespass and scattering rubbish.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Brian White of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

At 8:34 a.m. Oct. 11, White was dispatched to the clothing shed at St. John’s UCC Church for a woman sleeping inside the shed.

White discovered a man and woman inside the shed and asked them to come out. White questioned the woman and asked her for identification. She said she did not have it, but gave him a name of Kari McCoy with a date of birth of Sept. 1, 1987.

While White was taking the man into custody, the woman ran away.

She a gray makeup bag, releasing the contents all over the roadway.

Chief Randy Smith attempted to locate the woman, but could not.

A records check showed a Kari Ann McCoy with a different date of birth.

A license check confirmed this, and the picture license matched the woman White saw.

As a result, charges were approved against McCoy.

On Nov. 1, White received notice from the Correctional Institute at Muncy that McCoy has been incarcerated there since Aug. 9, and could not have been in Palmerton on Oct. 11.

Prison officials said McCoy heard from her sister, Holly Getz, and that Getz was the woman that White had an interaction with at the clothing shed and that Getz told McCoy that she had been using her name.

White checked Getz’s information on JNET, and the person pictured was the woman from the clothing shed.

Getz has multiple warrants for her arrest.

The district attorney’s office approved charges against Getz for the Oct. 11 incident. Charges against McCoy were withdrawn.

Getz is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
