State police at Stroudsburg

State police at Stroudsburg reported on the following incidents:

• The caretaker of a 90-year-old Price Township resident has been charged with theft. Police were called to Hallowood Drive in the township by the power of attorney for the victim, who reported fraudulent credit card transactions took place between July 31 and Oct. 1, using the victim’s credit card without permission, and also reported that jewelry valued at $4,500 was missing. During the investigation, it was discovered Jennifer Anne Semisa, the caretaker, used the victim’s credit card and removed the jewelry from the residence. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly.

• State police are investigating a theft that happened between midnight Sept. 24 and 10:16 a.m. Sept. 26 at a barn in Hamilton Township. The victim, a 76-year-old Stroudsburg man, reported that someone opened the door on his barn located along Turkey Hill Road in the township and stole a Stihl chain saw, a white bucket filled with an unknown amount of Matco wrenches and a Toro weed-whacker. The estimated value of the stolen items is $900.

• State police said Richard Custred, 33, of Tannersville, was stopped along Route 611 at Turtle Walk Lane, in Hamilton Township, at 9:38 p.m. Friday for traffic violations. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody and transported to the county DUI center for processing.
