WEST PENN TOWNSHIP

West Penn Township supervisors, on a 2-0 vote, with Supervisor Tim Houser absent, took the following action Monday morning:

• Agreed to use a $30,000 grant from the John E. Morgan Foundation Inc., plus an additional $8,206 from the police department’s funds, for the 2 LPR System, E-Citations and LTron.

• Approved the appraisal process for the railroad right of way that is connected to a railroad right of way that East Penn Township had acquired from Josh Cramer, the owner of the rail right of way. The land is located in East Penn Township. The donation is 5.9 acres and will connect East Penn’s rail right of way and end at Quarry Road. It was stated there will be a $1,500 cost to the township to get the right of way appraised.

• Announced that the township planning commission meeting scheduled for Sept. 25 has been canceled as there are no plans to review or vote this month.

• Announced that trick or treat would be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

• Agreed to provide fire police for the Andreas Halloween Parade at 7 p.m. Oct. 17, and the Tamaqua Halloween Parade at 7 p.m. Oct. 23.
