Nesquehoning is accepting applications for police officers

Nesquehoning is looking for a few good police officers.

Last week, borough council accepted the resignation of three borough police officers — one full-timer and two part-timers, as well as voted to advertise the positions since the resignations leave the department short-handed.

The officers leaving include Glenn Laninger, who had been with the department full-time since January 2016; as well as officers Rob Blisard, who also served as the borough’s code enforcement officer; and Thomas Sabulsky Jr., who is leaving for other employment.

The borough is now accepting applications to fill the vacancies.

Applicants must meet a number of qualifications, which can be found on the borough’s website at www.nesquehoning.org/?q=policedept.

There is a $100 nonrefundable application fee.

Applications may be obtained at the borough office, 114 W. Catawissa St., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, or on the borough website.

All applications must be returned in a sealed envelope to the borough secretary by 4 p.m. Sept. 14.

In other matters, the borough is also looking for residents to service on its civil service commission. Letters of interest for the commission positions are being accepted at the borough office.
