Tamaqua Revive church hosts Family Fun Night

Community members of all ages gathered at Tamaqua’s South Ward Playground for an evening full of excitement that the whole family could enjoy.

The Revive Community Fellowship hosted its first Family Fun Night Wednesday. The event was originally planned to be take place on North Railroad Street but due to Tuesday’s rainy weather it was rescheduled.

The free event offered plenty of activities geared toward younger children.

Kids took turns jumping around in two different bounce houses, receiving balloon animals in all shapes and sizes, trying their luck at a handful of carnivallike games and much more. Of course, there was plenty of festival food available as well, including snow cones, hot dogs and chicken fingers.

“We just like to show the community that we care, no matter where they come from or where they are at,” said the Rev. Steven Gintz of Revive Fellowship.

Members of the Jersey Baptist Church traveled all the way from Lexington, North Carolina, to lend a helping hand.

According to Kimberly Leonard of Jersey Baptist, Tamaqua was chosen as this year’s mission trip location. The church chooses an area to assist on a yearly basis, and when Gintz invited them to visit they decided to stop by.

Revive has been a member of the Tamaqua community for the past year and a half and meets at 10 a.m. each Sunday at the Tamaqua YMCA.

Mostly focusing on different ways that they can better the community, members participate in local events.

One of the group’s biggest upcoming events is its school supplies roundup that will be held in the beginning of August.
