A Carbon County man admitted to counts of persistent disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering another person for incidents in Penn Forest Township last year.

He entered a guilty plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Steven Ross Samuels, 58, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Nov. 17, 2017, when troopers responded to a report of a person causing a disturbance. On scene troopers found Samuels in a residence apparently hallucinating. Also found in the home were firearms, which Samuels was not permitted to have in his possession.

Samuels told Nanovic he had gotten married that day and had taken “something to enhance my marriage experience.”

He said the guns belonged to his brother and it was his brother’s residence where troopers found him.

He said he began acting strangely in the home of his new wife. He called a friend to take him to his brother’s home. He said his brother had passed away about two months earlier.

Nanovic placed him on probation for two years on the recklessly endangering count and one year probation of the conduct charge with the terms running concurrently.

He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.

Nanovic noted that Samuels got a huge break when the district attorney’s office agreed to drop a firearms charge in a plea bargain.
