The Lehigh Valley’s 2018 Carpenter Cup baseball team was announced recently as the team looks to prepare for this year’s edition of the tournament in Philadelphia.

The Times News area will be represented by a pair of Palmerton High School players. Ben Serfass made the squad as an infielder, while Ryan King made it as a pitcher and an infielder.

This will be the 26th year of the LV franchise. It has been ousted in the first round in two of the last three years.

The Lehigh Valley squad will open up the tournament on Thursday at Philadelphia’s Franklin D. Roosevelt Park.

Last year’s team lost to Jersey Shore 4-2 in the opener.
