Applications available for Tamaqua pool season passes

It may be too cool to really think about the summer swimming season, but Tamaqua Borough officials are planning ahead for the opening of the Howard D. Buehler Memorial Pool at Bungalow Park.

Applications are now available for season passes, although the opening day hasn’t been set thanks to the seemingly never-ending winter storms that played havoc with school calendars. No season or daily passes will be available on opening day.

Steeply discounted rates for Tamaqua Area School District residents are made available through the generosity of the John E. Morgan Foundation. Rates will remain the same as last year, $10 per person for anyone living within the district. For those who reside outside of the district, a season pass will cost $100.

Season pass holders will also be able to apply for temporary guest passes for visitors. Those passes will cost $20 a week, per person, with a two-week limit.

Daily passes for Tamaqua school district residents will be $5 a day, Monday through Friday, and $6 a day for Saturday and Sunday. Out-of-district daily rates are $15 on Monday through Friday and $20 for weekend days. Nonseason passes for children under the age of 6 will be $1 a day.

Special rates will be available for patrons of the Lansford Pool, which remains closed for repairs. The Lansford Pool Committee will be in charge of collecting applications and payments.

Application forms and additional information is available at Tamaqua Borough Hall, 320 E. Broad St.; the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce; the Tamaqua Public Library; Fegley’s Mini Mart; and Our Family Mini Mart. Completed applications and payment are to be taken to the borough hall.

To ensure having your pass by opening day, have your application completed and submitted to the borough by April 30.
