Do you like gambling, as well as helping others?

If so, the third annual Raise the Stakes Casino Night, hosted by Turn To Us, will provide you with a little fun, while also helping a nonprofit organization that aims to assist families impacted by major or chronic illnesses.

The event will take place from 6 to 11 p.m. on May 12 at Dean Anthony’s 1122 North St., Jim Thorpe.

“All of the proceeds raised at Raise The Stakes fund our client programs like Keegan’s Kash and community outreach program,” said Alicia Kline, Turn To Us executive director.

Keegan’s Kash is the organization’s financial allowance program that assists clients by paying for bills associated with their diagnoses such as prescriptions, copays, insurance, medical supplies, utilities, car repairs, and rent or mortgage.

“Our mission is to advocate for individuals and their families by offering personalized assistance and connection to resources in a hopeful and compassionate environment,” Kline said. “We believe no one should fall through the cracks.”

The evening will include dealers and pit bosses from Philly Casino Parties, which will provide roulette, blackjack, poker and craps tables to keep those in attendance busy all night.

Donations of $20 will also get you an additional $500 in play money.

Tickets are on sale now. They are $40 per person until April 20 and $50 from April 21 until May 11. Tickets include $100 in play money, an open bar, food and live music by Abandoned Mind.

Turn To Us is a grass roots, 501(c)(3) organization that was formed in 2015 to address a gap in support services available to families impacted by major and chronic illnesses in Carbon County and the Tamaqua area.

The focus of their mission is broad in order to not just focus on one particular disease and services are not limited to a certain age range nor people within one socioeconomic class. Their free assistance is segmented into five areas — connection to resources, financial assistance, emotional support, transportation to medical appointments and treatments and wish granting.
