East Penn Township

East Penn Township conducted the following business this week:

• Resident Mike Kocher requested to hold a meeting April 9 at East Penn social hall for a group of residents opposed to the Cunfer biosolids proposal. The supervisors approved the request, with a $50/hour fee and $50 security deposit. Supervisors’ Chairman Bill Schwab said the space is also available to the Cunfers if they would need it.

• The supervisors agreed to come up with a budget to renovate the entrances and bathrooms of the township social hall, as well as add office space and bringing the building into ADA compliance.

• The supervisors directed the roadmaster to address flooding in the township right of way along Lilac Lane and Friendship Road, but told a group of concerned residents that the township would not fix the section located on their private property.

• Supervisor Stephen Heckman said the township has received half of the grant money to repave with gravel Bake Oven Road and Blue Mountain Road. Resident Hal Resh is donating the material for the project.

• Loft at Birch Wilds LLC requested a three-year time extension for a special exception from the zoning hearing board. The supervisors said the developer must ask the zoning board.

• The supervisors removed Blue Mountain Inspection Service LLC as one of the companies residents can use for building code services.

• An event to unveil a primitive camping area and vault toilet at Riverview Park has been delayed until weather allows the installation of the toilet. The project was funded through grants.
