NAZARETH, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man who sold signs to help raise nearly $20,000 for a state trooper critically wounded during a shooting near Nazareth is now facing a lawsuit from a nonprofit that alleges the signs were a trademark infringement.

The (Allentown) Morning Call reports the lawsuit filed last week alleges Nolan Kemmerer’s “PSPStrong” signs improperly used the name and likeness of the nonprofit the PSP Strong Association.

Kemmerer told the newspaper Monday he feels like he “got slapped in the face.” He says he didn’t know the organization existed before he printed the signs and sold them for $10 each to help Cpl. Seth Kelly.

Nonprofit president Danielle Petros says she had no choice after Kemmerer failed to sign an agreement that he wouldn’t use the organization’s name.
