Man calls police to report stolen car, gets arrested

A Texas man who reported to state police that someone stole his vehicle ended up in jail after police learned there was an outstanding warrant out for his apprehension.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said they were summoned to the Stoney Brook RV Resort, 1435 Germans Road, East Penn Township, after the 36-year-old man from Fort Stockton, Pecos, TX, reported on Wednesday that someone stole his vehicle. The theft took place between 11:30 p.m. Jan. 14 and 10 a.m. Jan. 15, police said. There are no suspects in the theft.

Police said they took the man into custody because there was an outstanding warrant out for his arrest on behalf of state police at the Gibson barracks in Susquehanna County.

The man was lodged in the Carbon County Prison, Nesquehoning, pending extradition to that county.
