A second fugitive case was solved in Tamaqua Friday morning when Tamaqua Police located R.J. Nelson, 37, a former Tamaqua man wanted in connection with the theft and unauthorized use of a credit card.

Nelson allegedly took a box from a car parked on Van Gelder Street in Tamaqua on Nov. 23, 2017.

Inside that box was a credit card, which Nelson used to purchase items at Walmart and Turkey Hill, racking up $746.96 in charges in one day.

He was charged with one felony count of access device fraud and misdemeanor counts of access device fraud, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

He was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer, who noted Nelson’s extensive criminal record, as well as his cooperation by always attending his court dates. However, bail was set at $10,000 straight as Nelson was out on bail for previous offenses at the time of the theft.

He was transported to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.
