Vehicle stop leads to charges

A vehicle stop has led to charges against the driver and the arrest of the passenger on an active warrant. State police at Lehighton reported the incident, but did not release names of the people charged.

The stop was made around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. The police report states the operator, a 29-year-old woman from Danielsville, was found to have controlled substances and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. She also displayed signs of impairment and was taken into custody and transported to the county DUI center for a blood test. She was also driving with a suspended license — DUI related.

The passenger, a 22-year-old man from Lehighton, was wanted out of Carbon County for drug-related offenses, troopers said.
