The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District has announced 2018 dam releases for the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven.

In 2018, the Army Corps will hold 22 fishing releases and 24 whitewater release dates.

The fishing releases will take place March 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31; April 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29; and May 5, 6, 13, 20.

The whitewater releases will take place May 12, 19, 26, 27; June 9, 10, 23, 24; July 7, 8, 21, 22, 28, 29; and Aug. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19,

Additional whitewater releases will take place Aug. 25, 26; and Sept. 1, 2, depending on seasonal precipitation and water accumulation.

Daily fisheries augmentation releases are also scheduled.

Finally, the weekend of Oct. 6-7 the Army Corps will release any excess water that may have accumulated during the recreation season.

The plan was developed in partnership with Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

All dates are subject to water levels and the need for flood control activities.
