Strong winds today, lake effect snow possible tonight

A wind advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. this afternoon.

Winds will be southwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph becoming  west around sunrise.

The strongest winds will occur before noon today and will diminish later this afternoon and this evening.

Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

Tonight, lake effect snow showers may reach the southern Poconos.

There is some potential for brief snow squalls with this activity, especially this evening.

A quick coating of snow and poor visibility could result in locally hazardous driving conditions if caught in a squall.
