A LOOK BACK SEPTEMBER 27, 1988

A large section of roof on one of the buildings in the Prince Manufacturing complex, Bowmanstown, was ruined by fire yesterday afternoon.

Plant manager Gary Jeffries, who discovered the fire, which destroyed about one-third of the sprawling roof, said he doesn’t know what caused the fire. He said it will not hinder the operations of the firm, which manufactures hard oxide.

Fire Chief Ernest Guldner oversaw the firefighting operations, which saw the Bowmanstown firefighters assisted by volunteers from the Palmerton Fire Department. They brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.
